Akra Elevator introduces regulator-free elevator technology in Istanbul

Akra Elevator introduced its regulator-free elevator system in Istanbul, developed by drawing inspiration from new-generation applications in Europe. This technology, which eliminates the traditional regulator, rope, and pulley structure, operates with electronically controlled braking and the ELGO shaft copying system. The mechatronic brake engages in the event of speed overshoot to ensure safety. The system, which offers advantages especially in structures with limited pit depth or top floor height, does not require additional construction intervention during installation.

General Manager Mustafa Karabulut states that the system reduces installation time by at least three days compared to conventional elevators and lowers maintenance costs. While it does not directly impact energy consumption, it reduces total costs through labor and long-term maintenance advantages. Additionally, the system provides top-level safety with its SIL3 safety certification. Domestic companies are in the process of completing their certification processes, while Akra Elevator is continuing its type approval process.

It is reported that there are over 300 regulator-free elevators in operation in Europe, with Akra implementing the first application in Turkey. The technology is expected to become widespread in a short time, and costs are expected to decrease further with domestic production.

Founded in 1994 and operating in the Ankara Kahramankazan Industrial Zone, Akra Elevator closely follows technology with its customer-focused approach and dynamic structure. Karabulut emphasizes that this system will shape the future of the sector not only technically but also economically, stating that Turkey has crossed an important threshold.
