ELEVATOR SECTOR & FOREIGN TRADE
The Turkish elevator sector increased its package elevator exports by 10.24 percent in the first 9 months of 2020, in the shadow of the corona. The sector, which lost 5.5 percent in terms of value in component exports, had a foreign trade surplus in both package elevators and components.
According to the information obtained from Foreign Trade Statistics Database of Turkish Statistical Institute, the Turkish elevator sector recorded a value of 85 million 864 thousand 12 dollars through the elevator exports of 26 million 404 thousand 948 kilograms in the first 9 months of 2020. Again, in the first 9 months of 2020, the value obtained by the sector, which exports 41 million 892 thousand 297 kilograms of components, was 83 million 183 thousand 91 dollars.
While Algeria is the country ranking first in the package elevator purchases providing an export value of 19 million 786 thousand 609 dollar in the first 9 months of 2020, Saudi Arabia is the country introducing the highest number of components worth 9 million 263 thousand 900 dollars.
According to the information obtained from Foreign Trade Statistics Database of Turkish Statistical Institute, the Turkish elevator sector achieved a total of 249 million 915 thousand 488 dollars of foreign trade in the first 9 months of 2020. In the same period of 2019, the total foreign trade of the sector was 239 million 868 thousand 966 dollars.
In the first 9 months of 2020, under the shadow of the corona, which has turned into a very serious health problem worldwide and affected entire economies negatively, the total export value of the Turkish elevator sector ticked up by 2.49 percent compared to the same period of 2019 and increased up to 169 million 47 thousand 103 dollars from 164 million 827 thousand 686 dollars.
In the first 9 months of the year, an increase of 7.53 percent was recorded in the imports of the sector compared to the same period of the previous year. In the first 9 months of 2019, imports worth 75 million 38 thousand 277 dollars increased to 80 million 868 thousand 385 dollars in the same period of 2020. Despite the export of 169 million 47 thousand 103 dollars in the first 9 months of 2020, import worth of 80 million 868 thousand 385 dollars was achieved in the Turkish elevator sector. Thus, the sector contributed to our economy with a foreign trade surplus of 88 million 178 thousand 718 dollars.
Elevator exports increased by 10.24 percent
In the first 9 months of the year, the Turkish elevator sector achieved a significant success by increasing its package elevator export value by 10.24 percent. The value of 77 million 68 thousand 431 dollars obtained from the 22 million 237 thousand 965 kilogram package elevators exported in the first 9 months of 2019 increased to 26 million 404 thousand 948 kilograms in the same period of this year and reached 85 million 864 thousand 12 dollars.
In the first 9 months of 2020, the import value of package elevators also increased by 7.36 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.
Package elevator imports, which were worth 14 million 489 thousand 472 kilograms and 57 million 781 thousand 511 dollars in 2019, reached 14 million 689 thousand 482 kilograms and 62 million 372 thousand 294 dollars in 2020. In the package elevator export, the sector gave a foreign trade surplus of 23 million 491 thousand 718 dollars in the first 9 months of this year.
Most exports in package elevators, has been performed to Algeria
Algeria ranked first among the countries to which the Turkish elevator sector exports packaged elevators. In the first 9 months of 2020, the Turkish elevator sector exported 19 million 786 thousand 609 dollars’ worth of package elevators to Algeria.
In the first 9 months of 2020, in the top 10 countries where the most package elevators are exported, Algeria ranked first and the countries below followed Algeria respectively; Russian Federation with 8 million 709 thousand 547 dollars export value, Ukraine with an export value of 8 million 217 thousand 975 dollars, Israel with an export value of 6 million 180 thousand 517 dollars, Iraq with an export value of 4 million 417 thousand 905 dollars, Georgia with 3 million 684 thousand 82 dollars export value, Azerbaijan with 3 million 13 thousand 244 dollars export value, Uzbekistan with 2 million 715 thousand 515 dollars export value, Libya with an export value of 1 million 595 thousand 973 dollars and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) with an export value of 1 million 145 thousand 350 dollars.
In the first 9 months of this year, out of the package elevator imports worth 62 million 372 thousand 294 dollars, the imports worth 47 million 543 thousand 792 dollars were from China. China was followed by the countries specified below; Germany with 3 million 880 thousand 674 dollars, Slovakia with 2 million 109 thousand 544 dollars, Italy with 1 million 977 thousand 309 dollars, and Spain with 1 million 44 thousand 792 dollars.
In the first 9 months of 2020, while the component export of the Turkish elevator sector increased on a kilogram basis, it decreased by 5.5 percent in terms of value obtained. In the first 9 months of 2019, a value of 87 million 759 thousand 258 dollars was obtained from the export of 41 million 642 thousand 972 kilograms of components. In the same period of this year, a value of 83 million 183 thousand 91 dollars was recorded from the component export, kilogram amount of which increased to 41 million 892 thousand 297. In the foreign trade of components in the first 9 months of 2020, the sector recorded a foreign trade surplus of 64 million 687 thousand dollars.
Saudi Arabia ranks first in exports of component
Saudi Arabia ranked first among 10 countries where the Turkish elevator sector exports the most components. In the first 9 months of 2020, the Turkish elevator sector exported components worth 9 million 263 thousand 900 dollars to Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia was followed by the countries respectively specified below; Egypt with an export value of 6 million 820 thousand 993 dollars, Iraq with an export value of 5 million 68 thousand 767 dollars, Algeria with 4 million 471 thousand 285 dollars export value, Iran with an export value of 4 million 244 thousand 104 dollars, Russian Federation with an export value of 3 million 703 thousand 259 dollars, Morocco with an export value of 2 million 773 thousand 804 dollars, Bulgaria with an export value of 2 million 646 thousand 305 dollars, Georgia with an export value of 2 million 509 thousand 98 dollars and Ukraine with an export value of 2 million 255 thousand 540 dollars.
In the first 9 months of this year, out of the component imports worth 18 million 496 thousand 91 dollars, component imports worth 6 million 966 thousand 574 dollars were imported from China. China was followed by Spain with 4 million 279 thousand 369 dollars and Italy with 3 million 553 thousand 277 dollars.
