Emergency Service Systems and Installation Preferences in Elevators Discussed
During one of the important sessions of the panel held at the Konya Branch of the Mechanical Engineers Association, Murat Topuz from Butkon Elevator discussed emergency communication systems in elevators and serial and parallel installation structures from a technical perspective. Emphasizing Konya's position in the sector with its production and service capabilities, Topuz highlighted the adoption of two- way communication systems as a critical development for the industry in new installations. He noted that Turkey is aligning its regulations with those of European countries in this regard.
Additionally, the advantages, application areas, and practical effects of serial and parallel wiring systems in field applications were explained in a comparative manner. It was stated that serial systems are more preferred in modern installations due to advantages such as reduced cable usage, faster installation, and ease of fault detection. In contrast, it was emphasized that parallel systems are still used in older structures but pose challenges in terms of cost and maintenance.
At the end of the presentation, it was stated that communication systems will be a fundamental element of security in the future of the sector, that the technical infrastructure needs to be modernized, and that production centers such as Konya will play an active role in this transformation.
Key Points:
- Konya stands out not only for its production but also for its installation and service quality
- Two-way communication systems have become standard in new installations
- European countries are in the process of upgrading all old systems by 2025–2026
- Serial installation systems offer speed, security, and cost advantages in modern applications
- Parallel systems are still widespread in some structures but have limited efficiency
- The quality of on-site personnel and workmanship are decisive factors in technical choices
- Security and communication systems directly impact the sector's position in global competition
