Main points that catch our attention
The value of goods imports increased by £1.8 billion (3.5%) in November 2022; After eliminating the impact of inflation, imports of products increased by £2.5 billion (6.1%).

Imports of products from EU countries increased by £1.2 billion (4.7%), and imports from non-EU countries increased by £0.6 billion (2.2%), both driven by increased imports of machinery and transport equipment.

Gas prices continued to fall in November 2022, leading to a third month in a row of declines in the value of fuel imports from non-EU countries.

How can we assess the latest situation in the UK’s trade figures with the EU?
According to the recently announced January 2022 trade figures, we have learned that the UK imports £24.1 billion of goods from the European Union and exports £11.6 billion in return. However, in order to understand these figures, it is important for users to be aware of some changes in the way HM Revenue and Customs collect trade data.
One effect of today’s announcement is to significantly reduce the January figure for UK exports to the EU, Matt Hughes explains what all these latest changes mean.
,
The UK’s exit from the EU has also brought changes to the way trade in goods data is collected by HMRC. These changes, of course, affected imports from the EU and exports to the EU in different ways.

Changes affecting imports from the EU
HMRC recently implemented an operational change that comes into effect from 21 January 2022. This is the change of border traffic flow controls at several ports that focus on those involved in the ‘Roll-on-Roll-off’ trade with the EU, and the loading of goods on a ferry in vehicles rather than being loaded directly onto a ship. As a result, some EU export flows in these locations have been negatively impacted.

EVALUATION OF TURKEY’S  EXPORT DATA JANUARY 2023
We can list Turkey’s main export sectors for 2022

Road vehicles (15%), electrical machinery, apparatus and household appliances (6%)

Machinery and transport equipment (31% of total exports);

Textile yarn, fabrics, manufactured goods (7%),

Iron and steel (6%) and metal fabrications (4%) finished goods (25%);

Food and live animals (9%); chemicals and related products (6%); gold (4%).

IS IT SAFE TO USE AN ELEVATOR DURING AN EARTHQUAKE? WHAT ARE THE NEW TECHNOLOGIES DEVELOPED FOR HIGH EARTHQUAKE RISK REGIONS?

Is it safe to use an elevator during an earthquake?

During an earthquake, the power supplies are cut off and you can get stuck in the elevator for a long time. Also, if the intensity of the earthquake is too high, there is a possibility that the elevator car will fall to the bottom and cause you serious damage. Therefore, it is recommended not to use elevators at the time of an earthquake.

If you are in an elevator with an earthquake sensor, such an elevator will immediately stop on the next floor.  Please go out as soon as the elevator stops. If you’re in an elevator without an earthquake sensor, press the stop buttons on all floors and get off as soon as you stop.

AVOID the following situations when an earthquake occurs,

Door. Doors can close and cause injuries.

Windows, bookcases, tall furniture, and lighting fixtures. You may be hurt by shattered glass or heavy objects.

Elevator. If you’re in an elevator during an earthquake, press the stop buttons for each floor and get out as soon as possible.

Overturned power lines - stay at least 10 meters away to avoid injury.

Earthquakes can happen anywhere.

An earthquake is a natural phenomenon that is difficult to predict, developing mainly in areas of mountainous or geological faults. These events occur due to the sudden rupture of an Earth’s crust caused by energy released after friction between tectonic plates within the Earth.

The  earthquake fault lines ,plates are always in constant motion, but the subtlety of these vibrations makes them imperceptible on the surface. With constant tremors, or volcanic processes, comes a time when tension accumulates at large levels that cause large seismic waves are released.

These movements have a duration and intensity that can vary according to shock, severity, and geographical region, since some regions are more prone to exposure to this type of phenomenon. Therefore, it is important to plan the architecture and cities of the place so that the buildings and the citizens can be protected in case of emergency.

One of the situations that most frightens the people  that living in areas of seismic activity is, the occurrence of an earthquake or volcanic process when using an elevator, inside the house or in public. However, due to technological advances in modernization and safety in the lifting sector applied to conventional elevators, hydraulic elevators and pneumatic elevators, these situations can now be made safer for elevator passengers.

PNEUMATIC VACUUM ELEVATOR SYSTEMS
Pneumatic Vacuum Elevators, Pneumatic Vacuum Assistants,
It can be designed different lift systems that guarantee the safety of its passengers during an earthquake. Pneumatic vacuum elevators have locks and floor brakes to be activated as a safety mechanism.

It facilitates the entry and exit of people in an emergency by ensuring that the cabin is fixed at all levels, so that when the pneumatic lift reaches the selected level, the vehicle holding elevator provides a fair catch by activating the steel locks on the top of its columns.

We cannot stop the tectonic movements of the Earth, but we can be confident that the structures we build can withstand the seismic waves and  we can make them earthquake resistant.
