Metroplast Elevator Security Systems and Meteor Lift companies signed a contract at the 26th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum 2023 (SPIEF-2023). Metroplast Elevator Security Systems was the only Turkish company invited to the 26th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum 2023.

The contract stipulates that Meteor Lift's product ranges imported from European countries will be manufactured at the company's factory in St. Petersburg together with the Turkish company Metroplast. These products include components related to lift safety, such as speed limiters and hydraulic buffers.

According to the terms of the contract, the first phase of co-operation between the companies envisages the supply of 10,000 sets of safety components per year and their integration into the assembly process at Metroplast's plant in St Petersburg. In the second phase, the technologies of the Turkish company will be fully transferred to the Russian side, and finally the production of security components will start at the factory. The full localisation of technology and products is scheduled to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2023.

Stating that they have been in the Russian market for about 10 years, Metroplast Elevator Security Systems General Manager Levent Akdemir continued his words as follows: "We want to establish much stronger relations with Meteor. Our products are recognised in the Russian market. We think that we will come to a better place with the relations we will establish with Meteor. We want to establish strong long-term relations with Russia. This is very important for us. Meteor is a strong company. In this sense, Meteor's power will support us to establish these relations and will give us a very important momentum. There is a pressure against Russia. Because of this pressure, European companies are not here, we see this. But we are on the side of Russia. We are here because we are with Russia. We are really happy to be here."

On the other hand, Igor Mayorov, General Director of METEOR Lift, said: "Turkey is a friendly country for us and we are working with great pleasure on a cooperation model for equipping the lifts we produce in St. Petersburg with high-quality advanced safety mechanisms."

Stating that the sanctions imposed made METEOR Lift look for a partner among the countries friendly to Russia, Igor Mayorov, General Director of METEOR Lift, said: "We aimed to find a reliable and predictable partner with whom we will cooperate closely and effectively. And Metroplast company has become just such a partner. It is a great honour for us that Mr Levent came here."

Founded in 1994 in Pendik, Metroplast develops and manufactures innovative components and assemblies for lift safety. The company has a leading position in Turkey, Balkans, CIS and Middle East markets.

In 2022, S8 Capital Holding, which operates in various sectors, acquired all assets of the US Otis Elevator Company in Russia. In January 2023, the holding's elevator unit launched a new brand called Meteor Lift.
