Russian Elevator Week 2025: The Eurasian elevator industry's gathering in Moscow

Russian Elevator Week (REW), one of the most important international events for the elevator and escalator industry in the Eurasia region, took place in Moscow at the VDNKH All-Russian Exhibition Center from June 25–27, 2025. Held every two years, the fair became a meeting point not only for Russia but also for the global market. This year's event was attended by 115 companies and hosted approximately 5,000 visitors. A wide range of products was exhibited at the fair, from passenger and freight elevators to solutions for people with disabilities, and from automatic parking systems to escalator components.

While European manufacturers did not participate in the fair due to the Russia-Ukraine war and sanctions, Chinese companies showed strong participation. Companies from Turkey also attracted attention with their innovative products.

Technical agenda and forum program

REW 2025 was not only a product exhibition area, but also a platform for discussing the technical future of the industry. The panel titled “Renewal of Elevator Equipment During Major Repairs Across Russia,” held on the first day of the fair, was one of the highlights. The panel, attended by Alexey Eresko, Deputy Minister of Construction and Housing of Russia, addressed the following topics:

- Compliance with TR TS 011/2011 Technical Regulations for Elevator Safety for the period 2025–2030

- Funding sources for the renewal of elevator equipment

- Mechanism for waiving central budget loans

- Modernization and renovation strategies for multi-story residential buildings

- Creating a qualified workforce reserve in the sector and vocational training programs for technicians

In his speech, Eresko announced that with the new support mechanism launched in 2025, two-thirds of regional budget credits would be waived if used for elevator renovation.

Technical highlights of the fair

Technical sessions held throughout the event highlighted topics that will shape the sector's future vision:

- Elevator solutions integrated into smart building systems

- Remote monitoring and maintenance technologies

- Energy-efficient drive systems

- Artificial intelligence-supported traffic management

- Modernization and safety equipment

These sessions also shed light on regulations such as CE and GOST certification processes in the Russian domestic market.

Social programs: ‘Elevator Beauty’ contest and family day

The social aspect of the fair also attracted considerable attention. The “Elevator Beauty” contest, held for the first time this year, aimed to support the role of women in the profession.

In addition, as part of the ‘June 27 Family Day’ event, participants had the opportunity to visit museums and exhibitions at VDNKH with their families. Special play programs were organized for children.

Russian Elevator Week 2025, held in the Russian capital Moscow, was a gathering where Chinese and Turkish companies stood out in the absence of European OEM giants; nine companies from Turkey attracted attention at the fair with their modernization solutions and innovative products.

Turkish Companies Shined at REW 2025

Nine companies from Turkey participated in Russian Elevator Week 2025. The companies at the fair were: Butkon, Onaylift, Erasis, Özbeşler, Mp Yener Övünç Asansör, Metroplast, CEO Elevator, Akış, and Mekisan.

Turkish companies attracted attention with their modernization systems, plastic injection components, brake and regulator hardware, cabin systems, and control panels. It was learned that some companies held cooperation talks with distributors in Russia at the fair.

Thanks to their product diversity, compliance with international standards, and competitive price advantages, Turkish companies received positive feedback from visitors.

Best Elevator Award: Shcherbinsky Lifts

At the award ceremony held during the fair, Shcherbinsky Lifts' “Aspect” model was awarded the “Best Elevator for Large-Scale Renovation Programs in Multi-Story Buildings.”

The “Aspect” and ‘Gorizont’ models with round digital displays, previously introduced at the “Moscow – City of the Future” forum, had proven themselves in capital repair fund programs in Russia.

Global Participation and the Importance of REW

Although there was no participation from Europe this year, manufacturers from China, Turkey, India, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Belarus took part in the fair. This diversity demonstrated that REW is now an event followed not only regionally but also globally.

Companies participating from Turkey began negotiations for new distribution agreements for the Russian market at the end of the event.

Conclusion: Expectations for 2027

REW 2025 showed that the balance in the global elevator sector is being reshaped. In the absence of European manufacturers, the strong presence of China and Turkey was considered the most important development that will shape the future of the Russian market.

The next Russian Elevator Week will take place in June 2027. Industry representatives are already anticipating this event as a gathering where digitalization, green transformation, and regional collaborations will take center stage.
